What is a Therapeutic Massage

Having a therapeutic massage is an easy, effective way to release muscular tension, enhance relaxation and revitalize the body with the movement of the skin, fascia, muscles, and tendons in order to promote a relaxed sensation of mind and spirit. We offer several types of massages based on individual needs:

Types of Massage and their benefits

Swedish Massage

At the moment you are probably experiencing some discomfort, if not quite pain. This will lessen as your muscles relax and you adjust to your new posture. A Swedish massage is likely to be the most appropriate type massage for the greatest number of people. Used in chiropractic offices and spas worldwide, a Swedish massage can address a variety of general complaints such as neck and shoulder stiffness from typing all day, lower back pain after moving furniture or labor intensive jobs.

Swedish massage is one of the most common types of massage. It's mostly used for relaxation. A Swedish massage focuses on long and soft strokes. There is pressure but it's not firm like a deep tissue or sports massage, which we'll discuss below. The goal of a Swedish massage is to restore circulation of blood and oxygen while promoting detoxification and tension release.

Deep Tissue Massage

Have you ever wondered what a deep tissue massage feels like? This massage is designed to bring circulation and healing blood flow to deeper tissue, muscle and connective tissue.

A deep tissue massage is similar to a Swedish massage in that the therapist will use long, flowing strokes, gliding the palms against the body in an upward direction. Where a Swedish massage incorporates many different strokes to relax muscles and relieve tension throughout the body, a deep tissue massage focuses on specific issues in the muscle tissues: knots, soreness, and restrictions.

Connective tissues can become tight and stiff due to injury or overuse. Deep tissue massages help relieve this pain and restore normal muscle function by working directly on these connective tissues.

Sports Massage

What’s the difference between a sports massage and a deep tissue massage? Essentially, it’s how deep the therapist goes into your muscle and fascia. Sports massages work on the superficial layers of muscle sometimes as light as an inch. Deep tissue works on the deeper layers sometimes as deep as four inches. This is why some people don’t feel much relief from their chronic pain after getting a sports massage.

Get the most out of your workout or athletic event by scheduling a massage prior. A sports massage addresses aches, pain and injuries that are associated with sports or repetitive physical activities with both massage and stretching. This combination helps to alleviate the tight, overused muscles and increase total body relaxation, getting you ready for your next workout or game.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

If you are looking for a fast, effective way to rejuvenate your body, lymphatic drainage massage is the answer. A type of manual massage, it helps to break up phlegm and move the lymph fluid through your vessels and nodes so that the cells can properly process waste.

A combination of soft, gliding movements while stretching and cupping. It does not involve firm pressure as the idea is to stimulate the lymphatic system without putting too much pressure on the vessels as this can cause a buildup of lymph.

Relaxing Massage

Myofascial Release Massage

What is a myofascial release massage? When you’ve suffered an injury or surgery, or you have overused muscles, these overused muscles might not be able to stretch further. The tissue that connects the muscle to bone in that area can become stiff and tight. This particular type of massage works to release those areas.

Welding injuries can lead to chronic muscle tension, pain and limited mobility. Not only will massage services help treat these common conditions, but they can also help prevent them before they become a problem. By stimulating blood flow and releasing stored up toxins, Myofascial massage helps decrease body stress, allowing your body to naturally heal itself.
